Machining PVC
Rigid PVC is the economical chemical-handling plastic: excellent resistance to acids, bases and salt solutions, inherently flame retardant, easy to solvent-bond, and cheap. Manifolds, valve bodies, tank fittings and chemical-process fixtures are its natural applications.
It machines cleanly at moderate speeds: overheating is the main hazard, as PVC softens rather than powders. Sharp tooling and cool cutting keep edges crisp; solvent cementing then allows leak-tight multi-part assemblies without gaskets.
We hold ±0.05 mm on critical rigid-PVC features and machine CPVC where service temperatures climb toward 90 °C.
Common Grades We Machine
- PVC Type 1 (rigid) - The standard machining grade: chemical resistance, stiffness and easy bonding.
- CPVC - Chlorinated grade that extends chemical service to higher temperatures.
Applications by Industry
- Semiconductor - wet-bench components, chemical manifolds and drain fittings.
- Oil & Gas - chemical-injection and water-treatment components.
Surface Finishing Options
- Machined finish - clean matte surfaces off the tool.
- Solvent bonding - leak-tight welded assemblies for fluid-handling manifolds.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is PVC the right material choice?
Chemical handling at modest temperatures and pressures where economy matters: manifolds, fittings and fixtures. Above ~60 °C move to CPVC; for aggressive solvents or ultra-purity, step up to PTFE or PVDF.
Can you build multi-part PVC assemblies?
Yes. machined components solvent-cement into leak-tight manifolds and fixtures without gaskets or fasteners.
Is PVC safe for cleanroom or high-purity use?
Standard PVC suits general wet-process work; for high-purity semiconductor lines, specify natural PP, PVDF or PTFE instead: we machine all of them and can advise per application.
