Machining PET
Machining-grade PET (PET-P, best known as Ertalyte) fills a precise niche: better dimensional stability and lower moisture absorption than nylon or POM, good wear resistance, and food-contact compliance. Food-machinery components, precision wear parts and fixtures in humid environments are its sweet spot.
It machines cleanly to fine finishes and holds size well, closer to POM than to nylon in behaviour at the machine, with even better stability in wet or humid service.
We hold ±0.05 mm on critical PET features. Its main limits are impact (it is less forgiving than nylon) and hot water above ~60 °C, which degrades it over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does PET beat POM or nylon?
In wet, humid or washdown environments where nylon swells, and in continuous wear applications where PET outlasts POM. For pure impact toughness, nylon still wins.
Is machined PET food-safe?
Yes. standard Ertalyte grades carry food-contact compliance, and we supply documentation with the parts.
What is the TX grade for?
PET-P TX carries solid lubricant for dry-running bearings and wear parts: lower friction and longer life where grease is unwelcome.
